  • Grizzlies Win Versus Malemute (Koyuk, AK)

  • Tukurngailnguq emerged victorious 72-38 against Malemute on Friday on the strength of Beverly Tom, who scored 21 points.

    Grizzlies got ahead early with a 26-point second quarter, racking up a 43-17 lead by halftime.

    Sinking 41% (9-for-22) of shots, Tom had a solid performance from the field for Tukurngailnguq.

    Two other players also racked up double digit scores for Tukurngailnguq. Shea Matthias contributed 19 points. Karrie Lockwood put five three-pointers on the board and scored 19 points total. Also contributing for Tukurngailnguq were Gina Tom (5 points, 1 rebound, 1 block), Serena Martin (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Alberta Bogeyaktuk (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 block), and Joycelyn Katcheak (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal). Matthias was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up 12 rebounds, three steals and four blocks.

    Tukurngailnguq finished the game with 47 rebounds (26 offensive / 21 defensive), six blocks and 13 steals.

    Grizzlies Win Versus Malemute (Koyuk, AK)

  • Shea Matthias scored 18 points, helping Tukurngailnguq notch a 69-39 victory over Malemute on Saturday.
  • Grizzlies put points on the board early, claiming a 28-20 lead at the half. With 22 points in the third quarter, Tukurngailnguq cemented their lead.

    With eight points, Matthias saw her best shooting performance in the third period.

    Karrie Lockwood put three three-pointers on the board and scored nine points total. Two other players also added ten or more points for Tukurngailnguq. Beverly Tom racked up 17 points and Gina Tom added 13 points. Also chipping in for Tukurngailnguq were Serena Martin (6 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals), Imagin Tom (3 points), and Joycelyn Katcheak (3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal). Lockwood was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up seven rebounds and four steals.

    Tukurngailnguq finished the game with 31 rebounds (12 offensive / 19 defensive), one block and 19 steals.
