Hello My Name Is...
Gene P. McFarland
I grew up in Wenatchee Washington, a medium sized town in central Washington State famous for being the “Apple Capital of the World.”
I received a business degree from Eastern Washington University, Elementary Education degree from University of Alaska and a Masters in Education from National University. My first job in education was as the 6th grade teacher in Kipnuk Alaska.
I have also taught in Cold Bay and Emmonak Alaska. I was an ESL Instructor in Taiwan as well as Colombia.
My work history prior to teaching includes working for the railroad, as a police officer and owning my own business, but my most unusual job was working for Steven Spielberg.
I retired from the Alaska Air National Guard where I was the Education and Training Manager for the 168th Support Group at Eielson AFB.
When not in Alaska, my wife and I live in Barranquilla Colombia.
Because of Colombia’s exhilarating musical influence my passion now is Latin dancing.
