Hello My Name Is...

Braxton Cox

Mr. Cox

I was born and raised on a farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Although I have a large extended family with which I am very close, I have only one sibling, a sister, who is 14 months older than me. In 2009 I married my best friend, Brenna, and a few months later we moved to Alaska. Living on the Kenai Peninsula, I worked as an architect for five years, before moving to Stebbins in August 2015.

In Stebbins, I enjoy being outside; backpacking, skiing, camping, and exploring. You can also find me participating in an occasional game of basketball. Always ready to learn new things, I have tried to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to get to know the people of Stebbins and learn more about their culture, while also passing on my love of learning to my students.

One of my favorite quotes about teaching is “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” I strive to create an environment in my classroom where students can learn by exploring for answers to their questions.
