Congratulations to 6th grader Brennan Paje for placing 1st in this year’s Tukurngailnguq School Yup’ik Spelling Bee. Brennan, who won first place in the BSSD district competition last year and went on to State, is on track for a repeat performance.
Eighth graders Natalie Mike and Nevaeh Tom placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in yesterday’s school bee. Like Brennan, Nevaeh also went to the State competition last year, while Natalie, who is also competing in this year’s Educators Rising competition and emerging as a fine student leader, went to the state bee the year before last.
All three students will attend the Bering Strait School District Yup’ik Spelling Bee on March 15.
