BSSD students in Washington DC for Educators Rising National Competition

Ten (10) courageous students from Bering Strait School District qualified for and participated in the Educators Rising National Conference and Competition held in Washington DC last June 24-27.

I am proud to share that TWO of our BSSD students made it to the TOP 3, and THREE made it to the Semi-Finals (Top 10) of the National competition!

The students were accompanied across the country by me as Teacher Leader of Tukurngailnguq School and fellow Teacher Leaders Giaana Peterson (Unalakleet School) and Rose Ann Viray (Wales School).  Wence Cama (formerly of Gambell and now in Elim) also joined us as the male chaperone.

There were 20 students from all over Alaska who made it to the Semi-finals and the Top 3.
